Definition of Agile and of Lean

What is agile and what is lean? How much agile is possible in a safety critical development in a car, plane, medical device? What are the principles of lean and is it possible to be lean and agile at the same time? Is just implementing SCRUM already covering the principles of agile and Lean or probably not?

Agile and/or lean principles work differently in different domains: IT service, Automotive, production of components etc.

Please follow the following steps for submitting a paper:

  • Your thematic topic paper should comprise 10-12 pages.
  • Your paper has to be conform to the Springer CCIS format which is the same as the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) format (please see the author guidelines of Springer)
  • The paper has to be uploaded to the EuroAsiaSPI² conference website (see below).
  • Authors of accepted papers will be asked to write a final paper of 10 to maximum 12 pages and to prepare a 20 minutes PowerPoint presentation.
  • The final paper has to be uploaded to the EuroAsiaSPI² conference website again.
  • Papers shall reference the SPI Manifesto (find relationships to values and principles or propose new values and principles to be added).

Note: To publish the paper in the proceedings the authors have to sign a copyright form and at least one of the authors has to present the paper at the conference. The paper will be published in printed form and electronically and therefore we need all source files.

Please read first the author submission guideMore...

Additional Information

Enter the World of Agile and Lean

In this workshop series success factors and examples of being lean and agile are introduced, explained, and discussed. This should offer an entrance to the world of agile and lean.

We invite experts who are working with

• Agile development models
• Agile management models
• Agile production models
• Lean development models
• Lean management models
• Lean production models
• Concepts integrating agile and lean
• Best practices and bad practices in implementing agile and lean
• Standards supporting agile and lean
• Agile in safety critical developments
• Lean in safety critical environments
• Applying agile or lean in different domains

Interactive Workshop Approach

Focus of interest and main questions discussed during the workshop will be:
  • Best Practices for agile and/or lean
  • Bad practices for agile and/or lean
  • Applying agile and/or lean in domains (car, plane, medical)
  • Integrating agile and/or lean with existing rigorous development norms (safety, cybersecurity)
Each presentation will be discussed towards these main topics of interest. A panel discussion at the end shall come up with a summary of the solutions presented and with new research topics to focus on to solve this integrated approach (work for next year to meet at next EuroAsiaSPI and share again).
